January 2024 marks the transition between the successful Spanish Presidency of the EU and the handover of the proverbial baton to Belgium, who will, albeit in a condensed form given the Belgian and European elections, steer the political direction of the EU during the first half of the year.

Spain’s EU Presidency has been noted for its progress in promoting European competitiveness and its skilful diplomacy in managing many complex and important negotiations, not least the work on the Al ACT.

As we look forward to 2024, this cocktail and conversation will explore where Belgium can make an impact in building on the work of the Swedish and Spanish in progressing the single market and how it can set the agenda for 2024.

As is now tradition, this event will feature contributions from policymakers and, crucially, European SMEs from Spain and Belgium, who will talk about their experiences building and scaling in Europe. It also provides an opportunity for guests to sample and enjoy what these businesses have to offer.
